Amiloride Hydrochloride / Hydrochlorothiazide
Amiloride Hydrochloride is an active ingredient that plays the role of a diuretic and a sodium channel blocker. It is the hydrochloride salt of amiloride, a synthetic pyrazine derivative with properties of anti-kaliuretic and diuretic. It works by inhibiting the sodium channels in the distal tubules and collecting ducts of the kidney so as to prevent the absorption of sodium. It increases its excretion along with water, to produce naturesis. Hydrochlorothiazide is a benzothiadiazide and diuretic used to treat hypertension and congestive heart failure.
Class of Drugs – Diuretics
Molecular Formula – C6H9Cl2N7O + C7H8ClN3O4S2
Molecular Weight - 266.09 g/mol + 297.7 g/mol
Working: Amiloride Hydrochloride / Hydrochlorothiazide inhibits sodium reabsorption in the distal convoluted tubules and collecting ducts in the kidneys. It binds to the amiloride-sensitive sodium channels. This increases the loss of sodium and water from the body. It is a thiazide diuretic that helps prevent the body from absorbing too much salt, which can cause fluid retention. The combination of Amiloride Hydrochloride and Hydrochlorothiazide is used to treat fluid retention and high blood pressure.
Uses: Amiloride Hydrochloride medicine can be used with other diuretics hydrochlorothiazide to treat high blood pressure i.e. hypertension, heart failure, or extra fluid in the body. This ingredient also helps to treat or prevent low blood potassium levels caused by the other diuretics. Decreasing high blood pressure prevents strokes, heart attacks, and kidney problems.
