What is Avapro?
Avapro (irbesartan) belongs to a group of drugs known as angiotensin II receptor blockers. It keeps the blood vessels from narrowing that lowers blood pressure and improves blood flow.
What is Avapro used for?
Avapro is used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension). It is sometimes given along with other blood pressure medications. The medicine is also used to treat kidney problems caused by type 2 diabetes.
How to take Avapro?
The tablets should be taken regularly as directed by your doctor. The tablets should be swallowed with a glass of water.
How much Avapro is safe for consumption?
Usually patients start with a 150 mg pill once a day, while some patients might need a lower starting dose. Doctor shall inform if this is necessary. The full blood pressure lowering effect of this medicine should be reached about 4-6 weeks after starting treatment.
How long to take Avapro?
Avapro helps to control high blood pressure, but it does not cure it. Therefore Avapro must be taken every day. Continue taking the pill until your doctor tells you to stop.
